The personal exhibition «Kazakhstan residents» of Dmitry Rugis was opened and devoted to the Year of Folk Art and Cultural Heritage of the CIS on 21 January, 2022.

40 works were presented in the exhibition hall of the museum. These are large scale photographs in black and white. Photos were made over the course of several years, during his travels and working trips around Kazakhstan. This is just part of a series of over 100 photos. They depict working people, people from the hinterland, from distant villages, people who have preserved their ancient traditions.

Photographs depicting children are exhibited on the central wall, as a symbol of the Children’s Year, declared in Kazakhstan by the President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and a symbol of the future.

None of the works has labels. All of them are united by one common name – Kazakhstan’s residents. This makes a lot of sense. All we live on the same land - Kazakhstan. No matter what nationality we are, we are all Kazakhstan’s residents.
