An online exposition "Employment Book"  was opened in the museum of Temirtau city, as part of the "Exhibit of the Month" project in honor of Labor Day On September 19, 2022.

It’s worth starting with the fact that the prototype of Employment Books appeared in France in the middle of the 18th century. In Kazakhstan, Employment Books were introduced in 1939, simultaneously with other Soviet republics.

The museum funds contain the Employment Book of Viktor Semenovich Zhevlakov- a resident of the Temirtau city, which began to be kept on January 24, 1939. It uses the Latin script for the Kazakh letter, which was used in the period from 1929 to 1939.

The first entry in the work book reads: “Construction of the Karaganda Hydro Electro Station. April 9, 1934. Hired. Chauffeur". Viktor Semenovich got into construction, which began back in 1932. Then, on the Nura River near the Samarkand village (the future Temirtau city), a water reservoir and a hydroelectric power station were being built to solve problems with a shortage of electricity in the  Karaganda city.

In 1941, many experienced engineers and builders went to the front. The fate of those who remained was not much easier - to launch Karaganda hydro electro station in the shortest possible time, which they did in 1942.

Viktor Semenovich was appointed director of the Karaganda Mechanical Repair Plant, which in the future was called the Temirtau Casting and Mechanical Plant according to the Employment Book an entry in the dated March 13, 1943. Behind the high-profile name was a production building, a warehouse, 6 old machine tools and several dozen employees.

Entries in the work book say that Viktor Semenovich worked as the director of a foundry and mechanical plant until 1968.

After retiring, Viktor Semenovich took part in another important event for the  Temirtau city: the opening of the German Drama Theater in 1980. This is evidenced by the latest entries in the work book for 1980-81.

Our world is filled with exciting stories. You just need to look at everyday things from a new angle. And then an ordinary work book will be able to tell not only about the fate of a person, but about the history of the whole city.

The opening of the exposition took place in social networks. The exposition will run for a month.
