Height 102 is the highest point in Stalingrad (Volgograd) - Mamaev Kurgan. Here, the mass graves of soldiers, defenders of Stalingrad are placed.
Kazakhstan formations took part in the Stalingrad Battle: the 75th naval rifle brigade, the 459th rifle division, the 81st cavalry division, the 129th mortar regiment, the 156th bridge-building battalion, the 460th rifle division.

31 residents of the Samarkand village (since 1945 -Temirtau city), died in defensive and offensive operations of the  Stalingrad Battle.  8 of our countrymen are missing.

Through unique documents, photographs and voluminous exhibits, the events in the village of Samarkand, directly related to the  of Stalingrad Battle, are reflected: the stay of the future composer Alexandra Pakhmutova here, the opening of camps for German prisoners of war, etc.
