The opening of the “Miner’s Lantern” exhibition took place onlineas part of the “Exhibit of the Month” project, on February 21, 2024 .

The history of Karaganda city begins with a workers' village, which was transformed and received city status on February 10, 1934. As part of the 90th anniversary of the mining capital, a miner's lantern was presented and the evolution of lighting systems for mines in the Karaganda region was highlighted.

The miner's lamp presented in our exhibition is a Soviet example of a Davy lamp, produced by the Red Rey plant in the 1950s.

The miner's lantern was donated to the funds of the Temirtau city’s Museum by an old resident of the city, Vladimir Dmitrievich. Many generations of miners still remember with warmth this simple and reliable lamp, which saved more than one thousand human lives.

The opening of exhibition took place online.
