An event was held with students of school No. 6 in the format of a BoF session on the topic: “Semipalatinsk test site: memory and pain” on February 28, 2024.

This year marks the 35th anniversary of the creation of the Nevada-Semipalatinsk anti-nuclear movement. As part of the historical anniversary, participants in the BoF session, through stock photographs, exhibits and an interactive presentation, became acquainted with the prerequisites and stages of development of the anti-nuclear movement. We studied the history of the creation of nuclear weapons in the world, examined the damage and consequences of radiation on the environment and humans.
The second part of the BoF session consisted of group work. The participants, having expanded their knowledge, reflected on the topic: is nuclear weapons really necessary for modern states? They proposed their methods for promoting the anti-nuclear movement in the modern world. We discussed the decision to close the Semipalatinsk test site and the need for anti-nuclear movements in the 21st century.
