A memorial meeting “First Steel” was held within the framework of the project “The Origins of the Big Metal” on December 23. This memorial meeting was devoted to the 75th anniversary of the launch of the Kazakh Metallurgical Factory.

A small factory in the Kazakh steppe cast the first tons of steel, which went to the needs of the front, to restore the economy destroyed by the war on December 31, 1944. It became the fate of Temirtau city as a city of metallurgists.

Several generations of steelmakers and distributors were brought up by the Kazakh factory, many of them came to share their memories of the difficulties and victories of the first Kazakhstan metallurgists. Steelmakers M. Zhanybekov, V. Kovalenko, bosses Berg A., Gabdullin U. talked about the close-knit multinational staff of the factory, the importance of work for the good of the Motherland and the memory of those who stood at the origins of the big metal.

The story of the veterans and the presenter was supplemented by photos and documentary chronicles from the museum. The meeting participants could see the safety glasses and overalls of the first steelworkers, labor awards of metallurgists, castings of the first Kazakhstan steel.
