The online exhibition "About the printed word in Temirtau city" was opened within the framework of the "Exhibit of the Month" project  on April 7, 2023,
The public was presented with the oldest issue of the first city newspaper "Temirtau city’s worker" No. 13 dated December 20, 1947.
Why is this page so valuable? There are two reasons. The first is the news about the abolition of food cards. The second reason is the news about the registration of candidates for the city council. Temirtau, which recently received the status of a city, has grown to create its own Council of Workers' Deputies.
But the page of the "Temirtau city’s Worker" is also important as the first city newspaper. Until 1947, only the departmental newspaper of the building trust "Kazmetallurgstroy" - "Builder" was published in Temirtau city.
The first issue of the Temirtau city’s Worker newspaper was published on November 2, 1947. The new edition published articles both from its own correspondents and from amateurs, not only from adults, but also from very young schoolchildren.
The first editor of the newspaper was the history teacher of school No. 26 Georgy Andreevich Yalin. To help the inexperienced specialist came an employee of the newspaper "Socialist Karaganda" - executive secretary Lavrov Vladimir Georgievich. Thanks to his efforts, the clumsy texts of inexperienced journalists turned into works worthy of publication.
The opening of exposition took place in social networks. The exposition will run for a month.
