The exhibition presents a poster for the premiere performance of the Temirtau city’s Theater of Musical Comedy “Free Wind” by I. Dunaevsky.
According to the rules of the Ministry of Culture of the early 70s of the twentieth century, in order to open a theater of this genre, a number of requirements had to be met. Temirtau of that time did not correspond to any of them.
Nevertheless, recognizing the importance of providing the Karaganda Metallurgical Plant with labor, permission was given to open the theater.
The Musical Comedy Theater opened its first season with the premiere of Isaac Dunaevsky’s play “Free Wind” on November 16, 1973,
In 1980, a specialized building was built in Karaganda, and the Musical Comedy Theater moved to a new location.
Today the theater is known as the Karaganda Academic Theater of Musical Comedy.
