The online exposition "Textbook" History of the Kazakh SSR" was opened in the museum of Temirtau city, as part of the "Exhibit of the Month" project on December 8, 2022, at 12.00.

Since antiquity, history has remained only one of the genres of literature. Only in the second half of the 19th century was history recognized as an independent science, and already in the 20th century it was turned into a powerful ideological weapon. The past of entire nations began to be rewritten in favor of momentary political ideas.

A silent witness of those events- a textbook for grades 9-11 of schools in Kazakhstan "History of the Kazakh SSR", published in 1963. Author: Ermukhan Bekmakhanov.

The history of Kazakhstan from ancient times to the 60s of the twentieth century is laid out on 170 pages of the manual.

Of course, this situation has developed not only in Kazakhstan. Several generations of Soviet citizens counted the history of their people from the October Revolution. Everything that came before it was studied superficially, necessarily through the prism of the teachings of Marxism-Leninism.

There were scientists who opposed such an interpretation of history.

The author of the textbook, Ermukhan Bekmakhanovovich Bekmakhanov, once allowed himself to disagree with the “correct” assessment of events. In his book "Kazakhstan in the 20s and 40s of the 19th century", published in 1948, he called the uprising of Kenesary Kasymov not "feudal-monarchical", but "national liberation". As a result: several years of persecution, and a sentence in 1952- 25 years in prison. Fortunately for Yermukhan Bekmakhanovych, in 1954 he was released and rehabilitated. But the lesson has been learned. And not only by himself, but also by other scientists.

“History should be dealt with by historians, not politicians,” wrote President of Kazakhstan Kassym- Zhomart Tokayev in the article “Independence Above All”. Simple words, born decades of forgetting their own roots, the legacy of generations of ancestors.

The opening of the exposition took place in social networks. The exposition will act for a month.
